Long Review:
Nothing special about the Nasi New York. It tasted like Nasi Arab topped
with mayonnaise. Nuh-uh.
I actually read reviews on Google and Grab beforehand and saw many people
mentioning how the sauce tasted like mayo, but the white sauce looked too
good to be 'just mayo'. Turns out, the comments were right lol.
It's not pure mayonnaise though. There's a slight tanginess to it. Still,
it tasted weird when eaten with the rice. Also, the rice was super hot
while the sauce was cold. That hot-and-cold combo in my mouth felt really
unpleasant. As for the red sauce on top, I expected it to be spicy, but
nope. The white sauce flavor was too strong, so I couldn't even tell what
the red sauce taste like. I think it's probably sour too, like harrah
sauce that comes with Nasi Arab.
That said, the rice actually tasted quite good on its own. I'm also glad I
chose lamb over chicken, because only the lamb's flavor could fight the
sourness from the white sauce. The bowl also came with diced tomatoes and
salad. As it already sour, of course I don't eat the tomatoes.
For the caramel latte, there is 0% taste of coffee. It 100% tasted like
caramel or toffee candy.
I went to this shop on Friday, 30th May. I was supposed to go straight home
after work, but my plans got delayed because I had to pick up my sister who
came all the way from Sarawak. She was supposed to arrive at Putrajaya
Sentral at 11PM, but I asked her to go to MRT CCC instead since it's easier
for me to pick her up lol.
With some free time in between, I decided to go out for iftar. I was already
at my rented apartment, but I pushed myself to go out and get food. The ambience of the shop is so somber with the staff looks so tired and sad. Even when I smile to them, they weren't entertained. There was only one other customer, and they ordered takeaway, so I was the only one dining in. The shop was super quiet, with just the sound of the TV playing Oggy and the Cockroaches in the background. After a few minutes I dig into my food, two staff from the kitchen sat in front of me (different table) and play their phone without making any sound.
After geting out from that depressing shop, I came back to my apartment. I comfortably lie down on the bed, and suddenly remembered I had left some important
things at the office, so I went out again and returned to the office around
10PM. It was a whole back-and-forth kind of day haha.
