Long Review:
- Thai Green Tea - ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 out of 5)
- Tom Yum Seafood Mee Hoon - ⭐⭐⭐ (3.2 out of 5)
- Verdict: Will come again, maybe with my family, since many of the dishes seem meant to be shared.
Long Review:
The green tea tasted like ChaTraMue, so good it brought a smile to my
face. You can even see from the picture that the drink had already gone
down a bit because I couldn't resist taking a sip while waiting for the
food.
For the Tom Yum Seafood, they offer a choice between mee hoon or glass
noodles, I chose mee hoon. As I started digging in, the tom yum had strong
flavor and leaned more toward the sour side. I could also taste some
citrus, which I assume came from lime. But as I kept eating and stirred
the broth more, the stronger the citrus flavor got, and it eventually
overpowered the tom yum taste, slightly spoiling the overall taste for me.
As for the seafood, it included one scallop, two medium-sized prawns,
three clams with miniscule meat, and a few pieces of squid tentacles. The
scallop was so good, I really wished there was more. The prawn shells were
pre-sliced to make peeling easier, but it was still difficult to peel them
in the broth, so I ended up eating them with the shell. Fortunately, the
shell was soft enough that if you're too lazy to peel, you could chew a
few more times and just swallow it. There was also some oyster mushrooms
but I don't like their taste. It tasted very 'earthy' than I normally eat.
In summary, it was a good dish, until the citrus flavor started to
overpower the tom yum taste. They should put the lime on the side and just
let customer squeeze it when then want, how much they want, instead of
already putting it into the broth.
This day is 29th May, which is equivalent to 1 Zulhijjah until maghrib. It's sunnah to fast
until the 9th day of Zulhijjah and so I fast today.
If you come to this restaurant during sunset, you can take some great pictures
as the view of the sky is really beautiful from this place. The restaurant's
architecture that looks like a dome also adds to the aesthetic. Unfortunately, I arrived a little too
late to catch the sunset. The cloudy weather on this day probably also affect the sky view.
After I finished eating and was about to head home, the road I needed to take
was blocked by a broken-down car. It looked like a rental, probably driven by
a foreigner from desert and camel country. As someone who recently got their
driver's license and was just in an accident, being in a narrow road and in this situation
really scared me. I tried not to panic, took my time, and finally managed to
pass through safely even though the car was blocking half the road.
